The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Emergency Care post at the George Eliot Hospital Trust, Nuneaton, Warwickshire. This is a fixed term post to work in our Accident and Emergency department. The Department has a 24/7 rota staffed by middle grade Doctors; and training Doctors on a rotational basis.

There is also an onsite GP led urgent Care Centre

George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust is an integrated acute, community and primary care service provider comprising George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton, North Warwickshire and a number of community services including Community Dental Services & Sexual Health Services for Warwickshire.

George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust is located in Nuneaton which is the largest town in Warwickshire and birth place of the author George Eliot. Nuneaton is situated 9 miles (14 km) north of Coventry and 20 miles (32 km) east of Birmingham and serves a population of about 290,000 from Nuneaton & Bedworth, North Warwickshire, South West Leicestershire and Northern Coventry between the major hospitals in Coventry, Leicester and East Birmingham.

The successful candidates will be joining a trust with excellent professional and academic links with the University of Warwick Medical School and which boasts a first class modern education and conference facility in the George Eliot Training and Education Centre (GETEC) on the main hospital site. The trust is continuing with a period of transformation in order to achieve our stated aim of excelling at patient care and providing  services  which make our local communities proud and which other providers strive to emulate. The Keogh Review of 2013 has acted as a catalyst for a transformation programme which promises to revolutionise the services we provide to our patients.

You will serve a diverse population of over a quarter of a million people in a catchment area encompassing large cities, market towns, industrial settlements and rural villages. The lifestyle opportunities range from big city living in neighbouring Birmingham, Coventry and Leicester with their abundant cultural and lifestyle facilities, to more sedate settings in the many attractive villages in the Warwickshire and Leicestershire countryside.
